America’s Top 10 Cities With Highest Poverty Rate
  by Gordon Bishop (12/20/09)

What do the top 10 cities (over 250,000 population) with the highest poverty rate all have in common?

Democrats have controlled their cities during much of the 20th Century and into the 21st Century.

Here are the City, State population of people below the poverty level:

1. Detroit, Michigan - 32.5 percent
2. Buffalo, New York - 29.9 percent
3. Cincinnati, Ohio - 27.8 percent
4. Cleveland, Ohio - 27 percent
5. Miami, Florida - 26.9 percent
6. St. Louis, Missouri - 26.8 percent
7. El Paso, Texas - 26.4 percent
8. Milwaukee, Wisconsin - 26.2 percent
9 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - 25.1 percent
10. Newark, New Jersey - 24.2 percent

Detroit, 1st on the poverty rate list, hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961.
Buffalo, 2nd, hasn’t elected one since 1954.
Cincinnati, 3rd, hasn’t elected...since 1984
Cleveland, 4th...since 1989.
Miami, 5th, has never had a Republican mayor.
St. Louis, 6th, since 1949.
El Paso, 7th, has never had a Republican mayor.
Milwaukee, 8th, since 1952.
Philadelplhia, 9th, since 1952.
Newark, 10th, since 1907.

I know all about Newark, a city named after New Ark, England.

Some of Newark’s mayors wound up in prison for stealing taxpayer’s money. Newark is where I worked for 27 years as a columnist/investigative reporter at The Star-Ledger, New Jersey’s largest newspaper.

City Hall was a corrupt hive of petty thieves. Even the 1967 Newark riots couldn’t turn that city around.

It’s current Mayor is at least trying to clean up City Hall and its corrupt cronies. Here’s hoping he can succeed!

Like most daily newspapers, The Star-Ledger is slowly losing circulation and, thus, advertisements. Without ads, no newspaper can make it.

As a Christian, I sometimes pray for the Ledger’s survival.

Einstein, who lived out his adult years in Princeton, New Jersey, once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’

It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats—yet they are still POOR.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich, which is known as Marxist “Distribution of Income.”

We now have a president in the White House who believes in “Redistribution of Income”—tax the RICH—and tax ‘em hard.

It won’t work, Mr. Obama. Why don’t you just go back to Chicago with your corrupt “czars” and help prevent America from becoming an Islamic Marxist nation state.

“You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”—Abraham Lincoln.

God Bless ‘Honest Abe” and America!

Lilncoln was the father and founder of the Republican Party. This brave warrior won the Civil War, even at the risk of being assassinated...which he was.

The Democrat Party supported slavery that sparked the Civil War, which became a blood bath for those in both the North and South.
